Can you tell the £2 lingerie from the £263 version?

This week, discount retail chain 99p Store launched a bra for — you guessed it! — 99p. Dubbed ‘the best-value bra in the country’, the padded polyester/spandex mix under-wire bra costs less than a cup of coffee and, with it’s chic satin trim, looks just as stylish as more costly designer counterparts.

So how do the high-end brands justify their hefty price tags? The answer is that most of the more expensive offerings use better fabrics such as silk and lace.

However, La Perla’s £263 bra-and-knicker set looks almost identical to the one from the 99p Store and is also made of a synthetic mix of polymide/elastane. Of course, fit is crucial when it comes to buying underwear, but if the lingerie on this page is anything to go by, you don’t have to shell out a fortune to look fabulous.
